Rocked the vote

I feel personally responsible for electing Barack Obama because I rocked the vote.

I was wondering this morning if it was fate that John Kerry lost so the country would hunger for change four years later. I’m glad this election isn’t being drawn out.

Nice to see some ego based humor!

Hey, Florida was decisive. If you want the credit, take it.

    Way to vote Mike!!!

Seriously, though, just because I’m nosey, what kind of ballots do you have down there where you are? Is it easy enough for you to cast your vote, all things considered? I’ve never even thought about voting and accessibility issues, and now I’m really curious if you don’t mind sharing.

Thanks for electing someone who significantly doesn’t suck!

FLORIDA COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES! In 2001 a Voter Accessibility Task Force was created – met around the state for months -cost the tax payers tons of money. The man that selected the members of the task force was a consultant for a Touch Screen voting machine company and was ONLY interested in the accessibility for the blind. So, the state went with the Touch Screen voting machines and that cost the state MILLIONS of $$$$$$. Then, the Touch Screen voting machines did not leave a “paper trail”, so, the Touch Screen voting machines are gone – hopefully creating some reef off of the east coast of FLORIDA! Now, we are back to a paper ballot and the optical scanning machines seem to be malfunctioning as well! So, FLORIDA has pretty much come full circle and the people that are completely being ignored and whose RIGHTS ARE BEING VIOLATED because the FLORIDA constitution states that ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO A SECRET AND INDEPENDENT VOTE are the DISABLED! FLORIDA screwed AL Gore and they continue to do the same to the disabled. At least we are BLUE!

Oh, we have pencil & paper ballots. An assistant marks my votes, it’s not ideal, but it really makes no nevermind to me.

And to some people, it makes a huge nevermind…

My first presidential vote, for Gore in 2000, was with a black magic marker. Literally, you had to connect the dots.

That felt weird to me, but I vote on those antique lever things now, which feels all at once weirder, and yet safer.

Ultimately what matters is that people get to vote, and the vote is counted. Which, I guess in Florida, you’re taking your risks no matter what. (I kid, I kid… I think?)
