The end of Battlestar Galactica
I have to say, I couldn’t be more disappointed in the way Battlestar Galactica ended. I cannot believe that such an intelligent, well-written, often spectacularly dark series ended like an episode of Touched By An Angel. It’s as if the writers said, “Idea! Rather than tie off all of our loose ends with smart writing, rather than, you know, tell a good story, let’s just answer every question with, God did it. We’ll mean this literally, and call it a day.”
Battlestar Galactica, yet another thing ruined in His name.

They pretty much established there was a metaphysical aspect to the show when they had that map room to the stars with The Arrow and all that.
It’s not the choice I would’ve made writing it, either (I’m a lapsed Catholic/atheist) – but there’s no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater. In almost every other aspect, the show was consistently superb.
I didn’t enjoy The Sopranos any less because it ended with a Journey song.
And civilisation in Africa was started by white people and one Korean. And they sent a fleet of spacecraft into the sun rather than beat the metal into ploughshares or something. 30,000 people and no, we’re not going to build a city. We’re not going to give people clean running water, sewerage, or access to doctors and schools (hey, it’s Africa!). And…I could go on. It was nice to see the pastoral spirit win out over the heroic-tragic, but someone needed to tell the writers that pastoral life ain’t Marie Antoinette playing dairymaid in a cubbyhouse.
That stuff bugged me a lot more than the heavily interventionist role of God, really.
they pissed away 4 episodes on the two core characters everyone hated [Ellie and Gius] then decided to piss all over the history of humanity.
I think someone spiked the writer’s crackpipe.

Yeah, the way they ended it did indeed suck. Last month I watched the whole series all at once in about two weeks. The God/Gods stuff always kind of annoyed me, but that’s just the bias of this goddless heathen. But the thing got me was the whole ditching of technology and starting over from scratch. What a stupid notion. Ridiculous. I’m so glad I watched the show though.
