No tomorrow

If I knew there would be no tomorrow, if zombies finally paid us a visit, I’d tell you I love you. Why are such simple words more frightening than the walking dead?

    Rhetorical Question right?
Question with a question, yeah, but, still, ?

You’re only talking about the Saying It Part.

The fear’s all in the overthinkers soul about Hearing it.

Yep Will, the fear is (more than likely) centred around the response you’d get.

I suppose that’s why the “end of the world” thing is so appropriate, because it allows you to say it without any consequences in a sense, because nothing matters anymore.

I sometimes wonder what I’d say to people, mostly those I haven’t seen for years but I miss, if I had cancer and was dying. My head’s full of unwritten letters, especially in the early hours when I can’t sleep. It’s not that unrealistic an idea by the way: I smoke about 40 cigarettes a day and have been doing so since I was around 15. The conclusion I come to every time is that it would change nothing, because if I said the same things and asked the same questions right now I’d get the same responses.

Speculating wistfully upon the end of the world (or the end of your world) and using it to ask “what ifs” about all the loose ends in your life is like thinking about what’d happen if you won the lottery – it’s not getting you anywhere while minutes, hours, days and years rush by. The zombies aren’t conveniently going to turn up; you just have to make do with what you’ve got. It’s all too often true in my case that life seems to be “something that happens while you’re thinking of what might have been”. Fighting that is a full time battle.

My dumb advice (in case you give a crap) is to say it, if only to get it off your chest, then try your hardest not to let the response bother you if it’s not what you want to hear because at least you said it and you tried your hardest and they know how you feel. You can do absolutely no more than that, and it’s a brave thing to do in any case.

Alex: You and I think a lot alike.

SI: I don’t see what this post has to do with you.
