That is one of the important phases of writing. Excitement, doubt, hatred, and then hopefully… at some magical & glorious point: acceptance!

josh: Acceptance that you fucking suck, and it’s time to pack it up?

Michael, I don’t understand this self-criticism. Perhaps you’re referring to something you’re trying to write, and have not yet posted? I re-read your posts for the last couple of weeks; they’re perfectly comprehensible and, taken as a whole, very well-written. I sense you wish to produce something that’s way beyond good (as you’ve done in the past on several occasions), and that’s laudable, but the only way you’ll do it is to keep working at it.

Keep in mind that much of what you read in books and online magazines has gone through an editing process. Editors make corrections to style as well as substance, and suggest ways to improve the final product. It makes a big difference (as is often attested to by authors on the credits page of their books).

If you’re having trouble with something in particular, feel free to email it to me, and I’ll do my best to help you with it.

Nope! Accepting that what you’ve written may need some edits, but is overall worthwhile!
