So, I’ve decided that until I can effectively type again, I’m going to have my assistant, Sarah, transcribe my writing ideas by way of the alphabet whenever we’re out for the evening. For those unaware, the alphabet involves a person saying each letter of the alphabet and me signaling with my eyebrows when to stop at a particular letter. Then, each letter gets written down in a notebook.
I’ve been really hesitant to write that way because it gives me flashbacks of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, which absolutely fucking terrified me, but I have to write somehow. Creation kills depression. We wrote most of my last post last night using the alphabet, and I think it went well enough.

Please send us a tweet when you get new work done. I know your reservations for that method. I saw that movie and was also scared.
On the other hand, writing is writing at the end of the day, and it needs to get done.
You’re amazing.
I disagree with comment on replacing “just die” with something fanciful – just die is simple & real.
This is unrelated to your post, but I finally took one of your book recommendations to heart and finished the first two chapters of “Palimpsest” at lunch. I am enjoying it. 🙂
Wait, the NeuroSwitch is still coming, right?
I don’t think anyone appreciates how much we take for granted. Being able to speak, write, even just breathe…. Having had all that taken away from me for a mere two weeks, even /I/ can’t imagine what you must be going through.
Don’t give up just yet. Your intense, profilic writings are worth a thousand blogs.
Susie: I’m not amazing, I’m a fuck up.
Jeff: Yeah, I get to try the NeuroSwitch next week.
Well, Mike, who isn’t?
But, you’re amazing b/c you’re unstoppable … you’re like ‘well, this is what I’m going to do for now, then’ & it isn’t because you’re ignoring reality or refusing to feel things.
Michael,
Hey one other idea with the alphabet is this new midtech eye gaze alphabet setup called the megabee. http://www.megabee.net/ I tried it out a couple times in the last few months and it is decent for a what it is designed for.
